A major refurbishment of the Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College carried out in a number of phases over a period of 4 years. Phase one involved an extension to the library area taking over the existing quadrangle. The garden area lost was replaced in a roof garden over the library.

Further phases involved a 4 storey extension to the rear of the college housing Arts Humanities and Sciences. A large atrium space was created to form an open access learning area.

A gymnasium and new sports facilities were also provided.
